Skep’s Place

Role

I was doing some research for the Skep’s Place redesign earlier today (hey, did I mention I’m redesigning the website yet???) and came across This article by Axess Lab regarding ways that screen readers might misinterpret decorative site elements. While I do try to account for screen reader usage wherever possible, I must admit that my knowledge on this topic is both scattershot and incredibly limited, to the point that I never really took time to consider how this technology actually works.

Not only was it helpful to see a way in which screen readers are actually used in practice, but the article also explains how even simple styling decisions can result in user frustration, and recommend a really easy solution to help mitigate this issue. Thought I’d pass it along!
